The Buy Kiwi Made media campaign is being run by the Ministry of Economic Development in order to boost home grown support for manufacturers. In fact, it's part of a 100 year history of Kiwis encouraging Kiwis to buy New Zealand made goods. Every time we buy Kiwi, the whole country benefits.
For the past 100 years Kiwis have been encouraging other Kiwis to buy New Zealand made goods. The first organised campaign was a partnership between manufacturers and retailers and was quickly supported by government. Today's Buy Kiwi Made media campaign continues that spirit of partnership and is working with the Buy New Zealand Made Campaign Ltd, itself turning 20 years old this year.

A Buy Kiwi Made Sector and Regional Initiatives Fund was set up to support projects in industry sectors across New Zealand. There were three funding rounds which have all been determined and the Fund is now closed.

Launched in three phases from July 2007, the campaign was a finalist in the 'Mailed Masterpiece' section of the 2007 Candida Art of the Envelope Awards for direct marketing materials dispatched to manufacturers and retailers. The television advertisement won a 2008 Sir Julius Vogel Award and a 2008 Silver Axis Award.

The Wellington retail community got behind Buy Kiwi Made with a $5000 Mega Shopping Spree up for grabs, plus five additional prizes of shopping vouchers worth $250 each.
The Competition ran from 18 May to 7 June 2008 and is now closed, while winners have begun their shopping!
